In mid April, the Provincial Government introduced two new housing plans: Bill 185 and changes to the Provincial Planning Statement, a powerful planning law that shapes all development in the Province. They will destroy farmland, natural areas and housing affordability.
We need to stop these from becoming law!
TAKE ACTION NOW!
The Greenbelt reversal proved that speaking with one voice can stop bad decisions. We've created a powerful letter and analysis we'll be sending to the Province. Now we need you and other Ontarians to endorse it.
The Provincial Government wants you to believe these new actions will help solve the housing crisis. They hope you will ignore the details.
But details matter.
Combined, the two new bills will:
-Build the wrong type of housing (big, expensive single family homes) in the wrong places (on farmland, natural areas). -Destroy farmland, natural assets and water resources. -Divert construction workers and materials away from building the right type of affordable housing we need in the places we want to live.
